Stumbled upon this cute little wine bar while my husband and I were waiting for our dinner reservation. Had a wonderful experience at Maria Palato. Came upon it because our apartment was just down the street and had to try it after walking by and reading wonderful reviews. The owners were lovely and we got lucky on a busy Thursday evening to get a table for 2. Had some wonderful moscatel and lovely glass of white wine named after their dog Poncha ❤️ we got the fish platter and salad that was so fresh with oranges. I ended the night with a port as my dessert.Was also able to easily select some one to ship home. They walked us through many wines as we tried to describe what we were looking for. They were delightfully attentive and engaging. Absolutely fantastic experience - some of the best customer service we've ever received, great wine recommendations and delicious food (including Franceshina sandwiches). The wonderful staff member even offered us a tasting of the wine from Madeira before we went there which was amazing. Don't let the cute restaurant opening fool you - this place has a great kitchen, huge selection of wine and is amazing! Great place to have good glas of wine. Little wine bar with an awesome owner who was friendly, helpful and nice to us. We ate bread with cheese and olives which tasted really good. Relaxed place to stop near the famous As Bifanas do Afonso Street food place. This place does its own delicious food and will make you feel welcome also just for drinks.
